It's been quite some time since i was doing my work and relaxing in Dubai.

This is been a place of recreation for me. Last year also i have been here but it was in summer and had a real tough time finding a place to cool off.... but now the weather is pretty nice and things are good..

I have seen lots of good things going on now .. lots of construction and many more things been developed ..

but in nepal .. its always the same and people are fighting for "kursi" a sit from where they can have some fun.

But still the show must go on and everything is revolving around the so called "Kursi"

time will come and new stuffs will take up in Nepal....

Hope for the good and be so it.

Pokhara Visit

Its been quite some time since I last post ...

I felt as if i have forgotten to write also and was busy for nothing

I have visit pokhara after several years.. (don't remember when was last)

but the place have not changed much but the attitude towards development has gone far beyond my thought...

you get almost all the facilites a city in nepal.... he he

any way the place and natural beauty has been kept as before but the construction of buildings and monuments have been growing in really fast pace but i loved the greenery in each and every hotel but saw less parks with greenery ....


Though the city have kept natural beauty .. but still need more planning for keeping it green and not turning to concrete jungle.

the places i have already visited but it's kept neat and clean not much dirty this time i didn't go down to the city .. stayed lakeside only ...

visited naudanda bad luck no view...

it rained and had more quite and interesting time

found the price hike in groves and accomodation

competition is there but people have to think more about nepali tourists than foreigners ...

Days Gone By

It seems that i have not been able to keep up with the system ...

The system is changing so fast that one have to take some time off to keep track of the things turning around...

The invention of wheel has made the world turn fast enough to leave behind lots of things and people.

Any way i have learned to keep the pace up but still lacking behind time...

Its been a hectic day .....

Its the festival time of Teej and lots of nepali girls married and unmarried are taking fasting for their beloved ones and showing off their talents amidst of public......

some sort of dancing and singing so called "Teej ko Geet" around the papshupati and other holy places and .... on top of the ladies are all in red robes and saris looking gorgeous .... as nepali puts " Rato RAMRO Guliyo MITHO"

The day is really gloomy due to rain from early morning and it seems the enthusiam will fade away but still ....

Nepalinux is getting more and more better day by day and the translation is coming up real nice not only that
new softwares have been added

Inkscape gnucash and other image manipulation and pagelayouting software are also been built in nepali ...

The next release is scheduled for 22 Sept hope this time the things will turn up real nice ..


any way technology have groomed the nepali language really well...

Apart from linux OS ,,,, windows vista is coming up with nepali fully built in the system itself ...

by and by the users must get the solution of IT in real time and easy to handle... so i guess if windows comes up in time many will prefer windows...........

More user friendly and more user oriented not only that lots of user software are been made ..... in windows...

Developers find it much more easy with RAD tools to provide customised solution in windows...

Let see how nepalis are to get benefit from use of IT in the age of INFORMATION and KNOWLEDGE.

Its been quite a long time since i have put some thing in blog and i have been bit busy finishing my unfinished business ...

Now as the time passed and could not put my time for this either.

BTW the time have to be managed for this sort of things which could make a little difference in life..

But the value of traditional stuff has evolved as the mordernization has come up....

people are taking it in different way that it used to be in the past...

It was just the display to make the queen forget her pain and help her pupil to overcome the sorrow.......

but now it is something to show that the people are having more fun after some one (beloved have passed away :( and it is not taken care for the beloved one....

As for my experience and have learned that people will never remember you.... i mean that you die a doggy's death....

but the festival have a lot of other good aspects also and we usually have kwanti......

Now-a-days working in kathamandu has become much more tedious and not fruitful... whatever you try to do is not considered and on top of that the failure rate is much more higher.....



Lots of youngseters are frusted with not being able to cope with the social reforms that are going and the fashion from outside world is taking over .... the lives... he he i mean to say that the terms they use are coming up with the frustration they are taking and using some time out to forget not knowing that is killing their future............

Lots of guys going to disco taking drugs and alcohol and going for joy riding at night and early mornings have become common on most cities ... now its been common in KTM also with the use of more advanced and happy hours of the vendors of liquors are providing promotional stuffs to attract youngsters ... the great crowd so far....

and even the gals are taking cig and enjoying the night life out in the valley.

This has been some sort of routine for most of the people due to tedious days and making merry in the long run... not knowing they are putting their precious time in risk for future ... having wasting their youth in the vigilance of "some joy" in dark night and ............................

Everyone is talking about localization ... everyone is keen on working with the langauage ... now what are we doing and will that be helpful on the long run ... it really bugs me...

Being a newar working for the nepali language and learning the basics is really nice and its getting into my nerves that this is really going to affect the whole mass to deliver the information in local language ... the need for information has really grown but disseminating those information is a real big challange though the medium are vague and could be distributed with lots of media ... but still computer and IT had a major role for that .. coz this is different ...

people can get the information through IT when and where and what are necessary for them .. alas other media are not of this kind that it delivers the message to the mass at one time.... repeats it .. if someone misses it he/she cannot have access to it .. like from .......computer

But still newletter , newpaper , magazines and now TV radio and FM are playing vital role in disseminating the information ...

The travel of information of the local people should not take days as it is in the past. But along with information the good and bad impact on social life is taking part ... The youngs are really fascinated with the fashion western world is enjoying and the copycats are really going fast for the lesser good stuffs....:(

This way only the localization aspects are taking part in the world of media i guess ... but have to take it to real social life as well ..... Traditional dress have to be put to use ... the ways of making ktm clean as in those days have to be implemented and water and sanitation methods ...

Why only techies are implemented .. have anyone thought about the old ways which could be more better than these new techies ....

nothing much to do about the technology its growing .... more day per day..

it seems that the war between proprietory and open source ( so called free softwares ) are going on but the cost of ownership is still the big issue which a general people have not considered ....

i think the proprietory software vendors do charge a lum sum in the begining and provide quality service whereas the opensource provide the software for free... ( or nomial cost ) in the begining and start charging for the support and makes a quite handsome earnings in the long run.. this is duly ok for living and making the FLOSS Community A-LIVE and it has even helped a lot in the evolving process to create a great solution which i think the closed source people wouldnot have possible done.

But the community has been growing ever since the concept was generalized and the opportunity in the field of IT has made impact not only in the economy but also socially. i guess this is the process of development and the information and knowledge is being considered as the power for next generation.....

The day with Allen

The meeting was really fruitful that-----the betterment of Nepali language in computing has to be taken seriously coz its been several years that Micro$oft platform and FLOSS platforms are working together to deploy the Nepali Interfaced Computer Application and even the whole OS.

Not only the interface but the UA(USER ACCESSIBILITY) have to be considered for the easeness of use. And it seems that the idea is to provide sufficient material for the user to be able to use the computing with the aid of computer itself.

Now the time have come to put up resources together to give the user a choice for taking the ownership of the computing language and start computing in LOCAL language and even in their mother tongue (lets make it possible).

It seems the computing in nepali language have taken some heights within past 3-4 years. It has been a great efforts from all the learned people to come together for the development and deployment of the products once we thought as of dreams.

By the way the news might be shocking for many of us that the win98 was been put to sleep and will not be supported in newer advanced machines.

more news in bbc as allen puts it

The good aspect of this has made it more simple for the transition..... coz there won't be any alternative ..... so the computer users of win98 have to sacrifice the system and move ahead with the technology.

New technology are coming up and open source people are making much use of the newer technology..

today i have tried the 2.14 gnome and found it amazingly fast in my linux box.
which i have using it for 2.6 onwards,

the applets are real cool.. deskbar one of the nicest i could not stand its comparison the apples search tool... damn cool..

any way i was unable to upgrade fully i will be doing it soon and will be reaping some benefit out of Gnome

windows and apple are also doing the same stuff and i guess ... everyone is targeting to include all the language spoken and written so far.

lesson learnt that people are never happy to get the stuff they want more ... even with "interest"

Purchasing Power

The power of people to spend ... is really getting much more that earlier...

the goods of luxury have been on sale and lots of business man are really reaping the fruit out of it...

but still lots of stuff have to change ...

who says nepal is "garib" I guess that is just a thego.....

The market have made it possible to have comfort for all the low scale earners too... you can get anything and everything in installment basis with 0% percent interest .. you just go on paying little by little and enjoy the comfort out of the things...

It has become obsession and destiny for many like me... I just got microwave oven for my mum. It cost me almost nothing for that price...........


And in the evening it was raining heavily .. that we enjoyed the evening treat...

with some gin and sprite.... rest all lost in the thin air....

the so called best team are really worsen this year .. Argentina ... brazil... and what not ... got all kicked out before they could be put to some fame...

but still the game is in the heat and people out here stay awake whole night .......for the fun of watching the game...

MacBook

It was nice to have a look at macbook but it seems that apple computers also have lost the charm it used to have now with intel processor.. built in ...

but still the look and feel of aqua in the mac is totally charming ..

and now you can have windows in macbook also that could make things even easier...

but who would want to run that micro$oft programs in mac...

but still the options are open to the users.... he he :)

Where are we heading

It was really nice to be at mama's place after a long time.
Everyone is doing good and learnt that things could change a lot faster than you can expect. And its been quite some time that i have not written and don't know what to write and what not to.....

its getting more and more advanced in the computing world ...

i came to know that microsoft is also doing great jobs making everything available online ... like windows live and office live ... along with google making spreadsheet online but it seems that after some time you just need a connectivity and a browser to get your things done whereevery you are ... and it seems that one day a kiosk with computer and internet will be the office at your fingertips..

and this is making people slave of information technology... not only that lots of things and lots of people are dependent in this sort of technology which i guess is not good at least there should be some alternatives for this sort of things...

All the transaction of banks or any financial institution are through the technology of the future .. that you can not purchase or sell without the help of technology.. he he... great time will come when you just have to order the mechanical robot to get things done.....

you even don't need to type your commands in computer and seems that it willbe your efficient secretary............smart enough to suggest you to do this or that.... ha science fiction turing into reality...

Technology has made life easier ???

I have been into IT stuff for quite some time and i ask myself has IT made our life simple or complex or are we getting much in geek stuff rather than being simple and living life comfortable....

But I have learned that the power of information has changed a lot ... i mean the knowledge could make your life much easier and faster for the betterment of yourself you can use this power to empower anything and anyone.

It seems that the war is going to hold the power .... the supreme leaders of the world are really enthusiatic about gaining the power and make all do the stuff they wanted...

Anup just got back from Dubai and wanted to make some investement in doing some new project. His idea and enthusiasm made me think to start something new not just a crowd in the mass .... I guess what we do should be outstanding and be useful for the bigger mass and should benefit all....

i guess i am getting hypocrite -- win-win situation for all.. he he he

It's been quite a few days i have not been able to write my blog.....

but in these few days i have learnt that being busy for nothing is something really boaring and you get all the hassles for free....

But things are turning up right and we are working for the better.

Now the Loktantra have come this is going to benefit only a handful of people as everyone is worried about what next.

It seems that the election is going to held which is going to cost a lot of our resources to be spent in vain. Coz nothing seems be proper as the moment and the so called Netas are only after their ..........

One thing i liked most was the militia training, It will probably like going to army for two years training as in Israel or USA where you have to have basic minimum army training in case .....(anything comes up :) )

So this is been the culture of the maoist .... nice though and guess this might not bring the communal feelings in the people but still one have to consider his or her community as it is only the way to make betterment and counterbalance the adverse effect of this political movement at large on the society.

LINUX ...... LINUX..... LINUX... *nix

Don't know why open source guys join their hands and develop a really robust system will all the usable stuff for the user without having to go through the trouble of doing this and that to get a required system running .... like macos it is full and really easy on the part of user .. just check windows it is so easy to install and configure ... all gui...and top of it ... once doesn't need to have good knowledge of computer...

and this *nix versions with all the rubbish ... there is no such good desktop for the user ... lots of distros ... some have good and easy installation some have nice interface but still user have to learn lots of things to get started and make things work for him/her.

Why don't these people make it really simple for the users... and leave the indifference feeling about the works they are doing...

Take a example of Simple softwares like notepad .... lots of variation are there why don't they stick to one and make it flawless.... not like gedit , kdeit , gvim , nano, emacs .. why all just plain text editor with some plugable stuff for developers and advanced users... this could make life much comfortable for the normal user.

I have writing all this with the view that one day open source could come to a single point where it would be like windows mac or os2 or solaris where the user gets all the comfort using the computer.

Now only, Ubuntu 6.06 is released with the ease of installation at the same time i came accross ZenWalk a distro based on slackware with all the user needs.

There are lots of distro to make the user confused.... with different utility in different versions......... and on top of that the versions doesn't have backward or forward compatibility

Virus Virus Virus

It was really surprising to know that most of the window users are complaining about the computer being infected with virus. But still they are happy to use Micro$oft windows and related softwares. Not only that there were more problems and some could lose data even though they join hands with Micro$oft to endeavour the benefits of IT.

Basically it seems that Linux users don't complain about the virus but still they must be aware of trojans ... that others could steal their data...

these stuffs are not realted with the users like me to be aware of virus or trojan i just need my system working fine and no trouble should be there for me to use and get my work done.


Linux and other open source software may be much better than Micro$oft or proprietory at some point but what about the future when this sort of things happen ...

Fifa world cup.... the enthusiasm has died... may be the time is not right....

Everyone is supporting me for the sake of my goodness ... thanks to them...

Nice to chat with vickey he is one kind of geek and making fuss about smaller things that you could have ignored but still he is nice guy with sense of humor.

He is having a problem with ego about using open and free softwares , wouldnot go for proprietory softwares and he made me understand that the soln should be something which users may not care about ... only the outcome have to be considered.....

We have worked quite hard to make some reasonable difference in Nepali Language Computing but still lots more to do as Vickey pointed out that much of the complex script processing is not fixed .... and keyboard layout have flaw which needs to be corrected ... have to update the glibc which is the major portion for now. Still the fonts for nepali language have to be developed and existing ones to be fixed and managed.

Not only that, the works that we are doing is not syncronized with the outerworld as it is not incorporated in all versions and distribution of LINUX.

So learning and gaining new expreiences in the web makes things more worse than you could think of.

Had a hectic day ... writing about gnome and translation stuff and working at office on Saturdays also makes you really boared .......


But the day was really gloomy with rain and cloudy. Even though it was really nice to be in a cozy room with internet and having to chat with friends and doing some new stuff ...

Learned about google spreadsheet . Nice stuff the Google Labs have developed and heard about office live from microsoft .... still have to check and find out more about it.

Vista OUT with Google invading

Long awaited Vista is out for beta testing and i have planned to use and learn more about the features of vista ....

Not only that i guess it will the os of the future .. but still have to rethink.....

coz any os with a simple browser will do the trick now ... as ...

google says...

we can have spreadsheet online from google and other stuffs like
Google Browser Sync, all of your browser settings are stored in your Google Account, and then shared across all computers that have the extension installed.



So it seems that the the need of more powerful os with lots of application is not needed anymore have to check on more of google stuff

simple as it looks just any os with a browser and net connection of course will do all the trick.....

hopefully the IT will be available for all in coming days ....

Naya Nepal --- New Nepal

I hardly see any changes from the movement in Nepal.

The only thing i see is the expenses of the JANATA that is going to happen.

The names that is being changed from Shree Panch ko Sarkar to Nepal Sarkar would be costing much more than one can imagine ... that i mean to say that what nuts is it to change the name ... all the letterheads all the stamps logos and what else ... the currency that is being used all over Nepal so whats the fun about "Naya - Nepal"

It is going to be much of the reform work.. but still the moha for kurshi is still with the what so called netaji

Any way my days are going on well with a bit of project works that i have committed .

Lots of people have to consider the fact that Loktantra as everyone is saying is not what they are going to get in the end..... Its all their effort that is going to be wasted in some form ....:(

But optimistically it is good to have a change but as i presume the change should not be sudden voilent or even drastic.

Nice Evening @ Milee's Wedding Party

The day was really gloomy it was raining all day long . i had been out without raincoat and getting wet , the day really hectic.

The work i was involved was not complete but the day was so boaring that i wouldnot even want to think about anything. i really had a bad day.

I even didn't go to nabins place and couldnot even make my time to call him .

But i will surely go tomorrow to cheer him up with his work.

i still have to make things up and have to cover my time ...

MPP was nice place to work with but i felt i am doing injustice to the office and its staff that i feel that it would be best to quit the job and start over once again.

The day past with all the thoughts that i have to get along with new stuffs and have to do all that takes my experience for the betterment of myself.

So came the evening , got a gift for milee went to her party ....

Giri introduced with his friends and everyone was newar and all of sudden with out my consent i was dragged in their group with the discussion they are putting .....

Now a days everyone is really worried about the political movement going on.

At the end of the day i had some quality time.......

It was my new experience with the DigiDAG Team members of having attending the meeting at READ premises ...

Nice to learn about the OKN projects been deployed in various outlets of Nepal in the form of Telecenters and disseminating the knowledge and information.
The ideas generated would help the rural mass to put the power of knowledge to the local people in the local language.

Not only that i was able to learn about the politics that is going in the country and got some knowledge about the different versions of the word ...Before i thought the words mean same but have different meanings with the different views.

and new things and ideas are generated while talking with people you closely know but the sharing of ideas is great.

everyone is talking about knowledge management nowadays i could now get the feel of necessity of this tool to make oneself in the field ....

The Big Day

It seems that the buerocracy has taken a turn with the movement from the people to make it "LOKATANTRA" . But still the things from the past have the effect on the lives of the people. As far as i have learned that the people to success should have some knowledge of leadership for making it happen.

My concern was not the politics and it is happening in Nepal. Not only Nepal it seems that the personal developement with the turning time has to be utilized with the proper advent of the conditions to make it favourable for oneself.

The benefit from the use and motivate people to make the things worse than better is going on.

These days people have been so aware of things that are changing. This is not related with politics only in every field there must be development for the betterment of the country and people have to learn to cope with the situation.

As for the IT as i am involved with the development of localized stuff that will reach the mass who don't have literacy in english people have opportunity to use and make benefit in other areas from the use of IT.

Computer as every people say will make things simpler and easier is not what it counts but the knowledge from IT to be used in various sector will empower the people to make things much simpler and easier.

After all i was able to summarize that the power lies in the knowledge and information one could get and update with the technology.

Trying to write my blog after a long time it seems that i have lost words to put in my blog and trying to keep up with the newer stuff in technology that also in IT .

you don't know the things that gets changed with moments in the field of IT.

I was really fascinated with the views of people to be able to use the computer in their own language ...

I have gathered some knowledge of how people want to grow in their respective field and have the concept to stay outstanding in the society.

This new technology have created some awareness that knowledge is such a power that made them even powerful to rule their respective field of work.
